Prindex Informe Comparativo

A pesar de reconocer la importancia de garantizar los derechos a la propiedad y a la tierra para el desarrollo global, no había una imagen confiable de dónde y cómo escasean. Hasta ahora. Entre 2018 y 2020, Prindex, una iniciativa conjunta de Overseas Development Institute (Instituto de Desarrollo de Ultramar, ODI) y Global Land Alliance (Alianza Mundial de la Tierra, GLA) llevó a cabo encuestas de representación nacional en adultos de 140 países. El resultado es que, por primera vez, hay disponible un conjunto de datos globales que cuantifica la inseguridad sobre la tierra y la propiedad y que permite realizar comparaciones entre países.

Los descubrimientos dan mucho qué pensar. Alrededor de mil millones de personas alrededor del mundo consideran probable o muy probable ser desalojadas de su tierra o propiedad en los próximos cinco años. Esta cifra representa aproximadamente 1 de cada 5 adultos en los 140 países en los que se realizó la encuesta. Dentro de ciertos países y regiones, y entre ciertos grupos, la inseguridad es incluso mayor.
